TRIO
The Taylor Ho Bynum Trio is a small group committed to the further
exploration of the extensions of composition and improvisation pioneered
by 20th century masters like Ellington, Ives, the AACM, etc, with
a third millennial flavor and a trickster sensibility. Led by cornettist/composer
Bynum, the group also features two of New York's most outstanding
young musicians, the remarkable guitarist Mary Halvorson and the
masterful drummer Tomas Fujiwara. Time Out New York writes, "Cornetist
Taylor Ho Bynum has made a name for himself in the bands of maverick
leaders such as Cecil Taylor and Anthony Braxton, but lately he’s
been turning heads leading his own spry, subtle units...he excels
in settings both sophisticated and playful; his triomates - pomo
guitar whiz Mary Halvorson and drummer Tomas Fujiwara - summon these
moods and many more."
